Wuppertal Institute: Digitally Enabled Circular Business Models

The workstream “Digitally Enabled Circular Business Models” developed a study on the use of digital technologies for Circular Economy. In doing this, it also identified already implemented utilizations of digital technologies to enable Circular Economy Business Models. The study provides a rationale for the application of digital technologies linking them directly to the Circular Economy’s R-Strategies and exhibiting the several drivers that at present lead to an intensification of efforts.
A major activity started with this study is the compilation of existing case studies from all over the globe where business models of the digital Circular Economy have been successfully created and implemented. This collection will be turned into a data base of case studies serving that may serve as inspiration for others to become active in the field.
